Description

The Application Developer, Consultant role is geared toward the technical leadership of both the solution design and the delivery of application software. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining complex technology solutions which are part of the Core Business Applications group. Responsibilities include interfacing with IT and Business partners to understand and influence requirements and technical solutions, and support of technical solutions built by vendors and BSC resources. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead design and development activities on concurrent complex projects with multi-source, on and offshore teams.
  • Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing large scale, complex enterprise applications requiring high performance and availability.
  • Works effectively with service vendors and IT service functions to ensure superior service (meeting or exceeding SLAs) delivery for all application core technologies and support services.
  • Be able to synthesize complex data/information and lead complex technical implementations on plan.
  • Able to effectively communicate status, design and approach with management/business sponsors/product managers
  • Familiar with standard software development tools, including defect tracking, documentation, and testing systems.
  • Self-directed, works with limited management direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Qualifications

  • Very strong technical skills with a minimum of 7 + years hands-on design, coding, integration and deployment experience in enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns.
  • Strong ability to analyze business requirements and transform into technical design and system solutions.
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and can be resourceful in navigating within a large and complex organization.
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate across the organization.
  • Able to effectively communicate status, design and approach with management / business sponsors/product managers.
  • Familiar with standard software development tools, including incident tracking, documentation, and testing systems.
  • Self-directed, works with limited management direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
  • Experience operating, enhancing and/or supporting packaged Health Plan core business administrative system (i.e. Facets, Elements, DIAMOND, MetaVance), ERP, or similar application supporting complex business processes in a health plan.
  • Experience with iterative development life cycle methodologies and application of those principles, especially Agile development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability managing projects with tight timelines in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vendor partners
  • Extensive experience in two or more of the following: Java, JEE, JDBC, XML, XSL, MQ, SQL, .NET.
  • Education:
  • BS or MS in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Physical RequirementsOffice Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
