Position Summary:

The Sr. Product Line Manager for DRS Daylight Solutions will be responsible for the overall performance of Daylight s high power commercial laser product line. This product line has recently been awarded long-term contracts with key OEM customers, and is poised for explosive growth in the immediate future. The core markets served by this product line are also demanding expansion of new capabilities that will require aggressive development and commercialization. The Sr. Product Line Manager will have leadership responsibility to execute these roadmaps, while also strategically positioning the product line and Daylight for long-term growth.

The successful candidate will have prior responsibilities in several disciplines across Sales & Marketing, Business Operations, Manufacturing, Finance and Engineering in support of a photonics-based product line. This candidate will also have a track record of defining new product roadmaps based on market intelligence, leading the development of photonics-based products, establishing and executing go-to-market strategies, and delivering strong financial performance across multiple product types.


  • Overall responsibility for revenue and profit growth for the high power laser product line
  • Provide service-oriented leadership across multiple disciplines to meet business objectives for the product line
  • Direct and define market requirements that informs the overall business unit strategy and forward-looking business plans
  • Identify and grow in to new market segments for existing high-power mid-infrared commercial lasers
  • Establish go-to-market strategies and follow-on execution for new products to grow profitability for the product line
  • Analyze and define the market for overall product strategies and opportunities; including, but not limited to, new technologies, joint venture opportunities or other business opportunities
  • Present strategy and direction to senior management with monthly strategic plan reviews, articulating key customer and customer segment requirements, conducting competitive product analysis and market research
  • Initiate, lead and execute business collaboration strategies; including, but not limited to, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and negotiations
  • Work with Engineering to establish market requirements and product guidance for new technologies
  • Work with Manufacturing to establish priorities and forecasts and provide overall support to meet product line financial objectives
  • Execute business development functions to identify and capture additional OEM customers, including
  • Support Sales team to grow revenue
  • Analyze product line financials and establish data-driven decisions based on financial performance requirements
  • Drive all sales activities including specification writing, prospecting, proposal coordination, contract preparation, negotiations, and closing
  • Make formal presentations, arrange and lead technology demonstrations
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and trade show events, including speaking and hosting panel discussions
  • Prepare and manage forecasts in accordance with assigned annual business development objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in technical field
  • 5+ years experience as Product Line Manager in photonics industry (or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills are needed to cultivate, build and maintain customer relationships, internally and externally
  • Successful track record of photonics product line management; exemplified by market penetration/growth, financial performance, OEM customer capture, new product introduction
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to demonstrate Daylight s products and technology platforms to potential new customers
  • Strong team player, able to interface well with other groups at all levels
  • Ability to travel to support duties and responsibilities
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. Active clearance preferred
